BMW Oracle’s received

BMW Oracle’s received their brand new yacht, USA-98 for the 32nd America’s Cup. The team is a challenger of the record and is preparing for 2007 cup season. The new boat is now being prepared for the race and team has started to fit the appendages to this new race yatch.

The boat will be launched soon and the team plans to conduct sea trials before heading for race training. The 2003-generation USA 71 will serve as the trial horse for the new race yacht. For more information you can visit the the official website of the crew.

The boat is named WAM-V or Wave Adaptive Modular Vessel and has been designed by Marine Advance Research who show cased it at a press event held in San Francisco.

The WAM-V is a customizable boat and can be easily configured depending on the needs of use. The two engine pods that are separated by the two hulls can also be separated according to the power needs of the user.

The most important and interesting feature of the boat is that it can adapt itself to the conditions of the waves. This enables the user to ride in shallow waters. Other good feature is the use of springs and shock absorbers that means that the passengers will not be lofted into air or thrown into water if the tides are high.

Marine Advance Research has also commented that the boat is made for multipurpose use and can be used for a scuba-diving platform, water ambulance, pleasure boat, luxury boat or also as a station for holding delicate oceanographic instruments.

Money can make a lot of difference. Roman Abramovich, a Russian billionaire will become the owner of the largest privately owned yacht in the world. This yacht named Eclipse is under construction at a shipyard in Hamburg.

The 550ft long monster will be equipped with all the luxury equipments like two helicopter landing pads, three launches, several hot tubs, a private cinema, a swimming pool and submarine as a safety vehicle for the billionaire and his family. This yacht will need a crew of 50 persons to maintain it. What a waste of money.

Currently the world’s largest yacht that is 525ft long is owned by Sheikh Maktoum, UAE’s ruler.
